The wood stork (Mycteria americana) is the only stork that breeds in North America. The female lays up to 5 eggs in a large nest built of sticks, and then both sexes sit on the eggs until they hatch. This large bald-headed bird, typically 3 feet tall, wades through wetlands looking for fish or frogs.
