Little Blue Heron

Little Blue Heron works the banks of a pond.

The St. Petersburg area, like so much of Florida, is full of watery habitat for herons. The Little Blue Heron is about two feet tall, with a two and half foot wingspan. Males and females look the same, but the young herons are white and have a blue bill. When they are mature, the bill is grey with a black tip.
